Ambivalence

Ambivalence refers to the state of having simultaneous conflicting reactions, beliefs, or feelings, also referred to as ‘mixed feelings’ of a general sort, or the experience of uncertainty and indecisiveness.

The series is an attempt to portray the contrasting, often subconscious emotions that shape the human experience. The artworks consist of various materials such as cotton, stone, felt and paper maché on large canvas. The expansion away from the 2-dimensional canvas into the 3rd dimension aims to depict the complexity of the theme and build a bridge into reality.
